“If we died with Him, we will also live with Him. If we disown him, He will also disown us. If we are faithless, he will remain faithful.”
What?
Yes. He will remain faithful because He cannot go against His own nature. He is faithful and will always remain faithful. (2 Tim 2:11-13)
In the above verse, Jesus was nearing the end of His stay on Earth and was preparing His friends for His departure. At this point Peter pulled Him aside and implied that Jesus was mistaken (Matt 16:22). Jesus was not deterred, even by a well meaning-friend. He remained faithful to God’s call.
We also have a choice to remain faithful in those tough times. Even when friends or family tell us we’re headed the wrong way, God is faithful and longs for us to be trustworthy. This is where our relationship with our heavenly Father is tested. You need to be so close to Him, that in His confidence, you can discern the truth from words from others that would weaken your will to keep the faith. If you ask, seek, and knock, He will always answer and open the right doors.
Even in God’s unfailing faithfulness, it still boils down to this- We can still disappoint God on so many occasions in so many ways. Can we then choose to fear disappointing our heavenly Father who, made us in His image, and called us His own? Instead of fearing God; what we are to fear is really letting God down.
I long to lift high the name of the one who saves me freely, loves me unconditionally, and purifies me repeatedly. I desire to put a smile on my father’s face. I fear the moment that I might do something that cause Him to look at me as Jesus looked at Peter when the cock crowed, & dread seeing the disappointment in His eyes.
Father let me glorify rather than deny You. Establish the work of my hands for You. Let your will be done… always and forever
