A Meaningful Day

Spent the day preparing logistical items & packing cartons of old clothes and stuff, did some skills training and research with my team mates as we excitedly anticipate the embarking of the upcoming trip to Cambodia on the 7th Dec, with the mission of "feeding, clothing, mending their houses & schools, and also... yeay! so exciting! to hold a Christmas Children's program for the local village children there.
Our team, we decided, would be called the "Joy Team." Simple name, simple reason... cos we hope to bring Joy to the people that we meet there. Next week we will be practising some cool stuff like balloon sculpturing and learning some of their basic 'Khmer', the official Cambodian language so that we can communicate better with them... heh, hope i dont pronounce wrongly! Haha...
The Cambodian history is one that has been oppressed by the government for many years, & i s a country that is in relative poverty. Even though this may only be a short trip for me, i do know that every effort our team puts in counts. Who knows, i might grow to love Cambodia so much i may go back often? Only God knows... but for now, im just honoured and happy that i have the chance to serve, to help and do humanitarian works.
After going through lots of things in the last 2 weeks, i realise that i have been focusing too much on "Me". In fact, when i align my mind and heart on how to help others, i find my life suddenly more meaningful... and yes, i feel happy... and very light. This is what i have been looking for. It may sound like crap to you, but yeah... i truly believe it.
Yesterday, Jon Teoh sent me an email. I was stunned by its content. i dunno why he did it, cos i seriously i certainly didnt deserve the scolding he gave me. I didnt know what else better to do, than to delete it. And to continue remembering... that there are people in this world that are just plain mean, without rhyme or reason. There is no why. I jus gotta live with it. And be more wary. Yeah. God help me.
Nevertheless, i still thank God for what i have instead of what i don't have. My family, my jie meis and friends. Who have spurred me on, and been there for me when i was the most down. I appreciate each one of you. Hope i can be there for you when u need someone too. Love ya all!
